Important Note !

The remaining wild population consists of approximately 200 in Costa Rica, 1500 in Nicaragua and two dozen individuals in Ecuador (unconfirmed sightings in NW Ecuador).

The life cycle of the Great Green Macaw is totally dependent on the Almendro Tree. This tree supplies the majority of food and majority of nest sites for the Great Green Macaw.

The Great Green Macaw is established in captivity.
