A Forest fire rages over the nest holes and chicks of the Bahama Parrot.

In July 2004 the fire destroyed the coppice undergrowth of 16 nests...

....only one nest was abandoned by the parents.

The Abaco population of the Bahama Amazon is the only fire adapted parrot in the world!

(The Bahama Amazon is a subspecies of the Cuban Amazon)
